Musical Theatre Scholarship Honors Cramer
For more than 30 years, Lyn Cramer has influenced the University of Oklahoma’s tradition of artistic excellence. A Weitzenhoffer Endowed Professor focused on jazz, tap and theatre dance styles, Cramer has guided countless students from rehearsal halls to the stages of Broadway, national tours, television and film. Her directing and choreography credits include work with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, OKC Philharmonic, Casa Mañana and OU University Theatre, where her productions have become part of OU’s proud legacy.
Beyond the stage, her book, Creating Musical Theatre, and widely used tap instruction videos have enriched performers nationwide. As Cramer prepares to retire from OU this spring, friends, colleagues and former students have made gifts of all sizes to the new Lyn Cramer Musical Theatre Scholarship Fund at the OU Foundation. With more than $66,000 raised so far, the endowed fund will continue to support future generations of students and extend Cramer’s lasting influence on OU’s musical theatre tradition.
